George G. Davis
Board Member
George G. Davis, Jr. is a seasoned leader with a passion for startup nonprofits, creative storytelling, and community development. He brings over two decades of experience across multiple industries, including publishing, hospitality, and nonprofit leadership. As Co-Founder and Publisher of Essex Editions, an independent artisanal publishing company, George has worked with authors, artists, and activists to promote culturally enriching and ecologically responsible storytelling.
In addition to his work in publishing, George is the Co-Founder of XenOases, a venture that transforms properties into luxury vacation sanctuaries, blending poetic design with hospitality. His commitment to fostering connections between people and nature also extends to his role as a Board Member and Poetry Editor for The Rewilding Institute, where he champions wildlife habitat connectivity and contributes to Rewilding Earth’s content.
George has extensive experience in the nonprofit world, including leading The Depot Theatre as Trustee and President through a significant leadership transition. He was also a Co-Founding Board Member of Champlain Area Trails, where he helped develop a regional trail network in New York's Champlain Valley.
George holds an MLA in Humanities from St. John's College in Santa Fe, and a BSL in Spanish, Latin American Literature, and Philosophy from Georgetown University. Fluent in both Spanish and French, George is a global-minded leader who thrives in startup environments, helping organizations grow and reach their full potential.
